My husband also wrote review and I am also writing it as a pregnant patient how I felt. Today was my first visit to this hospital as a pregnant patient, and what should have been a routine checkup turned into an upsetting experience. After my consultation, the doctor asked for blood and urine tests. I followed the instructions and collected my urine sample as requested. But when I returned with the clean, sealed container, I was told to place it under a table—right beside a dustbin. Later, when the lab technician arrived, I was asked to pick it up myself and hand it over. As someone who is pregnant and already navigating the physical and emotional challenges that come with it, I was shocked. I expected care, compassion, and professionalism—what I experienced instead was disregard and a lack of basic support. Why should a pregnant patient be expected to bend down and retrieve a sample, especially when staff are present and capable? What hurt even more was the response I received when I brought this up with Dr. Dhara Patel. She told me that neither she nor her staff ever touch urine samples, as if that was completely normal. Honestly, I was stunned. Is this how patients—especially vulnerable ones—are treated here? This may seem like a small incident to some, but it left me feeling disrespected and uncared for in a place where I had hoped to feel safe and supported. I truly hope the hospital takes this seriously and reflects on how patients, especially those expecting, are being treated.
