I had the honor of training with him....I wasn't the best of students when I did, but I did notice how much of respect his patients had of him....they would just fall at his feet as though he was God when 1 of their relative's were sick, and this i noticed when i was a doing my housemanship in the department of Medicine, under him...he was a quiet man, never shouted or got angry , no ego....and most students consulted him when they got sick because his skills were second to none...he wouldn't ask you to do blood tests.... he would just diagnose according to your symptoms and he would give you his free samples that the Pharmaceutical companies gave him, so as not to bother you financially and you always improve with his medications....after all these years, I must say he is equal to the Gods....will never ever forget him and he has been everything ,I ever aspired to be and i must say he is a tough act to follow...and unfortunately all these MBA' s have taken over hospital administration and now profit making is now the most important thing and men like him are no more seen..God bless you ,sir....I doubt you will even remember me but you belong among the Gods

People call Dr. S.M. Yeli as 'Walking God of Davangere', this doctor who has given his entire life to the poorest of the poor. Patients don’t get tired of talking about how he distributes, for free, medicines that he gets as samples from pharma companies, or recommends free tests for the poor at his diagnostics centre. Dr. Yeli is currently 93years of age and its sad that either the State government or the central government has still not recognised this humble person for his nobel service to human mankind. We hope very soon government will recognise and award Dr. S.M.Yeli with truely deserving award and recognitions.
