District Hospital Gyalshing

In April 2025, my cousin brother had a life-threatening medical emergency while on the Goechala trek. He developed High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE), a severe condition that required urgent medical attention. Thankfully, he was admitted to the ICU at District Hospital Gyalshing, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the care he received there. From the moment we arrived, the hospital staff were incredibly supportive, professional, and accommodating. The doctors acted swiftly, providing him with the critical care he needed, while the nursing and support staff ensured he was comfortable and closely monitored at all times. Their calm and compassionate approach made a world of difference in those tense and uncertain moments. It took a week for my cousin to recover, and throughout his stay, the hospital team kept us informed, reassured us, and provided everything necessary for his treatment and well-being. The hospital was well-equipped to handle such high-altitude emergencies, and their preparedness quite literally saved his life. Today, my cousin is doing great, and it’s all thanks to the dedicated team at District Hospital Gyalshing. I will forever remain grateful for their outstanding service and human touch in a critical time.
